Sunday November 5th marked the 31st annual Comox Valley Child Development Association Telethon. The first two cheques presented were by the Courtenay and Comox branches, 17 and 160, at the event broadcast live on Shaw Cable. . Each branch provided members for the joint colour party and the Courtenay Legion Pipe Band was on hand to get the proceedings started. As always, the two branches matched each other's $1,000.00 donations.

Presentation of $10,000.00 grant to the Urology Department of the Kelowna General Hospital.

Service Officers from Kelowna, Branch 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion present Dr. Jan McIntosh, Chief of Staff of the Kelowna General Hospital with a cheque for $10,000.00 to assist with the purchase of state-of-art medical instruments for the Urology Department. Service Officer, Bob Burchinshaw makes the presentation supported by Head Service Officer, Bob King on the left and Branch Vice President, Bob Carlson on the right, .

Our hope is that members of other Branches take this on as a member initiative. I know that Red Deer is doing something for "Red Fridays", however, not as "Grand" as 118. Members of 118 have been working on this for a month or so and here is what has happened to date.

Comrade Ken Dickson of Br. #20 Legion in Nakusp manned the Legion booth at the Volunteer Faire. The Nakusp Branch has donated more than $25,000 into this community with the help of their dedicated volunteers.

On May 9th, Dick McIntyre, President of the Kelowna Legion
presented a cheque for $10,000.00 to Mayor Shepherd on behalf of the Veterans of Kelowna and District, toward the upgrade of the City Cenotaph.
